Amy Sargent will fill vacancy on Cayuga Legislature

The Cayuga County Legislature will appoint Amy Sargent to fill its vacant District 10 seat at a special meeting Thursday, according to The Citizen. The position opened after Democrat Stephanie DeVito resigned in April.

Sargent, a senior operations director at Liberty Resources and Auburn Planning Board member, will serve until a special election this fall. She and Republican Michael Pettigrass, who narrowly lost in 2023, are both running for the remainder of the term.

The Legislature will also vote to appoint a new superintendent of buildings and grounds and advance a broadband expansion project that won a $26.1 million state grant.
