Gov. Kathy Hochul will testify before Congress today in defense of New York’s sanctuary policies. She plans to share a personal story about her Irish grandparents’ immigration journey during the House Oversight Committee hearing.
Hochul will appear alongside Democratic Governors Tim Walz of Minnesota and J.B. Pritzker of Illinois. The testimony comes as sanctuary state policies face renewed scrutiny on Capitol Hill amid ongoing national debate over immigration enforcement.
The governor said the issue is deeply personal and intends to highlight the human side of immigration while defending state-level protections for immigrant communities.
