With the June 24 primary approaching, Ontario County voters have several ways to cast ballots in important local races.
The Ontario County Board of Elections has begun mailing ballots to military, overseas, permanently disabled, absentee, and early mail voters. The ballot includes one Democratic and eight Republican contests that will decide who advances to the November 4 general election.
Key races in Ontario County
More than 29,000 registered Republicans in Ontario County can vote in a competitive primary for County District Attorney. GOP voters in Farmington, Gorham, Naples, Phelps, and Richmond will also decide local contests for:
- Town council
- Town supervisor
- Highway superintendent
The county’s only Democratic primary will take place in Geneva City’s Wards 5 and 6. Voters there will choose between two candidates for Ontario County Supervisor.
Early voting: June 14–22
Early voting will be available at the following three sites:
- Ontario County Board of Elections, Canandaigua
- Geneva Housing Authority office, Geneva
- Victor Town Hall, Victor
Polls will be open daily during the early voting period. Hours vary by day and will be posted on the county’s election website.
Voting by mail
Voters may request absentee or early mail ballots. Deadlines are as follows:
- June 14: Last day to apply online or by mail
- June 23: Last day to apply in person
- June 24: Ballots must be postmarked or dropped off by 9 p.m.
Mailed ballots must arrive by 9 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.
Voting in person on June 24
All 44 polling sites in Ontario County will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Election Day. Voters mark paper ballots, and poll workers scan and count them at the site. If voters make a mistake, they can request a new ballot before scanning.
