A man has been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries that rattled a Seneca County community over the past six weeks.

Deputies had responded to numerous burglary calls in the area before investigators identified Washington as a suspect. Officials said the investigation led to the recovery of many stolen items.

Washington was charged with five counts of burglary in the third degree, one count of grand larceny in the third degree, and two counts of grand larceny in the fourth degree. He also faces charges of criminal mischief in the third and fourth degrees, three counts of petit larceny, and one count of criminal tampering.

Following his arrest, Washington was arraigned at Centralized Arraignment Part Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Romulus Court at a later date.

The Geneva Police Department assisted in the investigation.

Sheriff Thompson expressed gratitude to members of the community for their support. “Sheriff Thompson would like to thank the numerous citizens who came forward with leads and intelligence that led to the arrest of Washington,” the release stated.
