The town of Ulysses has approved a state-funded project to replace the Maplewood Road culvert, according to Tompkins Weekly.
The BridgeNY grant will reimburse up to 90% of the $895,500 project, aimed at improving water flow, flood resilience, and road safety. Town officials say the funding comes after years of applying and is part of a broader plan to overhaul outdated culverts.
Construction will begin once funds are awarded, but the town may need short-term loans to cover upfront costs. Officials emphasize careful cash flow planning to keep the work on track without burdening the local budget.
