A Penn Yan woman is facing multiple charges after two separate incidents earlier this month according to the Penn Yan Police Department.
Michelle L. Downs, 50, of Main Street, was arrested on May 4 at 8:54 p.m. after officers responded to a reported fight in progress. Police say Downs forcibly stole property from another village resident by shoving them to the ground. She was charged with Robbery in the Third Degree and Harassment in the Second Degree. Downs was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Yates County Jail to await centralized arraignment. An order of protection was requested for the victim.
Earlier that same day, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Downs was also issued a criminal summons for a separate incident of Harassment in the Second Degree. In that case, she allegedly engaged in conduct that alarmed or seriously annoyed a resident without any legitimate purpose.
She is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date to answer to both cases.
