A Throop man was arrested this week after allegedly leaving a threatening voicemail during a domestic dispute, the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.

Deputies say 42-year-old Daniel E. Usher was taken into custody on May 13 and charged with aggravated harassment in the second degree and aggravated family offense. The felony charge stems from Usher’s prior convictions involving domestic violence.

The incident occurred earlier that morning around 10:34 a.m. in the Village of Port Byron. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim reported receiving a voicemail from Usher in which he threatened to harm someone using a firearm.

Following an investigation, Usher turned himself in at the Sheriff’s Office without incident. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. A court date in Port Byron Village Court is pending.

Authorities encourage anyone with information about the case to contact the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office or submit an anonymous tip through the SaferWatch app.
