A State Supreme Court judge has ruled that Jason MacBride will remain on the June 24 Republican primary ballot for Ontario County district attorney, according to The Finger Lakes Times.
The challenge, filed by a campaign volunteer for incumbent DA Jim Ritts, argued MacBride’s petition lacked enough valid signatures. But after review, the judge determined MacBride had 1,114 valid signatures—well above the 1,000 required.
MacBride, once Ritts’ top assistant, said he’s grateful voters will have a choice. The Board of Elections and MacBride were defended in court by separate legal teams. Ritts has not publicly commented on the decision.
