Claudio Espejo to perform benefit concert for Wood Library

Award-winning pianist Claudio Espejo will take the stage in Canandaigua on May 31 for a special benefit concert supporting the Wood Library.

Presented by the Friends of Wood Library, the concert will run from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 183 North Main Street. Proceeds will go directly to support the library’s programs and services.

Espejo, a Chilean-born pianist and educator based in Pennsylvania, is known for his expressive performances and dedication to connecting audiences with the emotional power of music. The evening’s program will highlight works from the Romantic period, including selections by Chopin and Clara Schumann, along with some of Espejo’s own compositions.

“Romanticism focuses on expressing emotions,” organizers noted, adding that the performance will span the emotional spectrum from “quiet and intimate, to public and thunderous.”

Espejo holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Michigan, as well as master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the Eastman School of Music. He currently leads the piano program at the Cab Calloway School of the Arts and serves as musical director at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Wilmington, Delaware.

His career has taken him to concert halls across the U.S., South America, and Europe, with appearances in countries including Poland, Spain, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

Tickets are available online for $22 or can be purchased at the door for $25. Admission includes light refreshments and a post-concert reception where attendees can meet the artist.
