Clymer student’s artwork selected to represent NY-23 in U.S. Capitol

A high school sophomore from Clymer will have her artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol after being named the winner of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for New York’s 23rd District.

Camryn Battaglia, a 10th-grade student at Clymer High School, won top honors for her piece titled “Concord.” The artwork will hang in the Capitol’s Cannon Tunnel for one year, representing the artistic talent of Western New York and the Southern Tier on a national stage.

“Congratulations to Camryn Battaglia, our winner of this year’s Congressional Art Competition for her piece, ‘Concord,’” said Congressman Nick Langworthy. “I thought her artwork truly represents NY-23 since we are home to the largest Concord grape belt in the U.S., and I’m pleased that it is representing our district in the Capitol.”

Langworthy praised the quality of all submissions and thanked the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at St. Bonaventure University for judging the competition.

The runner-up was Wendy Coleman, an 11th grader from Watkins Glen High School, with her piece “Stronger with You.” Finalists included students from Pine Valley, Iroquois, Salamanca, and Watkins Glen high schools.

Since its launch in 1982, the Congressional Art Competition has featured more than 650,000 high school students across the nation.
