Canandaigua man arrested for violating order of protection

A Canandaigua man was arrested after allegedly violating a court-issued order of protection by sending text messages and flowers to the protected individual.

Russell H. Linquist, 40, was taken into custody on April 21 at 6:24 p.m. and charged with second-degree criminal contempt. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office determined during its investigation that Linquist had contacted the individual despite a stay-away order in place against him.

According to the report, Linquist sent several text messages and a bouquet of flowers, which led to his arrest for breaching the court order. He was transported to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.

No further details about the case have been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
