One airlifted after early morning rollover crash in Aurelius

A driver was airlifted to a hospital early Sunday morning following a rollover crash in the town of Aurelius that drew a heavy emergency response.

According to the Cayuga/Seneca Fire Wire the crash occurred on West Genesee Street Road near Walker Road. First responders said the victim was trapped in the vehicle and required 30 minutes to be extricated.

Mercy Flight from Canandaigua transported the patient, completing the flight in just 11 minutes. The Aurelius Fire Department, along with Cayuga and Auburn City Ambulance, responded to the scene. State Police and the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the operation.

The condition of the patient was not released. Authorities have not provided additional details about the cause of the crash.
