A coalition of parents, doctors, and lawmakers is pushing new bills to protect New Yorkers’ food supply. The Food Safety and Chemical Disclosure Act, Predatory Marketing Prevention Act, and Sodium Warning Bill aim to ban toxic additives, block kid-targeted junk food ads, and flag high-sodium meals.
Advocates argue federal oversight has failed, allowing chemicals linked to cancer and hyperactivity into everyday foods. The bills would ban harmful substances like Red 3 dye, regulate deceptive advertising aimed at children, and require sodium warnings on restaurant menus.
Legislators say these moves are critical to closing dangerous loopholes and safeguarding families from hidden food hazards.
