James Kuhl has officially launched his re-election campaign for the Steuben County Legislature’s 12th District seat, representing the Town of Erwin.
Kuhl, who also serves as Vice Chair of the Legislature, announced his candidacy on May 2, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to continue building a healthy, safe, and prosperous community. “I am seeking reelection to build on my efforts toward a healthy, safe, and prosperous town and region: infrastructure for emergency response; support for law enforcement personnel; programs for local businesses; and resources for veterans, seniors, youth, and others in need,” Kuhl said.
During his first term, Kuhl championed initiatives including increased pay and retirement benefits for law enforcement, investment in emergency first responders, expanded veterans’ services, new programming for mental health and substance abuse, and grant funding for youth sports and leadership activities. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Human Services, Health, and Education Committee and as Vice Chair of the National Association of Counties’ Education, Children, and Families Subcommittee.
Kuhl is also running for re-election to the Erwin Town Council, where he previously served on the Town of Erwin Planning Board. Professionally, he is a senior business consultant at Salient Management Co. in Horseheads.
Kuhl and his wife, Maggie, are parents to three elementary-school-aged boys and are active in Scouting America, Corning-Painted Post Little League, Erwin Valley Elementary PTA, and Corning Children’s Center. The family are members of the First Presbyterian Church in Corning.
Kuhl’s campaign will host a series of meet-and-greet events throughout May and June. More information can be found at www.facebook.com/JamesKuhlforErwin or www.jameskuhlforerwin.com.
