Cornell University has named rapper Gunna as the new Slope Day headliner after dropping singer Kehlani over her comments on the Gaza war, according to The Ithaca Voice. Kehlani’s public criticism of Israel, including statements seen as antisemitic by some, prompted the university to rescind her invitation.
Following pro-Israel student protests and administrative concerns, Cornell scrambled to secure a new performer just five days before the May 7 event. Gunna, a four-time Grammy nominee, will perform alongside DJ duo Louis the Child at the free campus concert on Libe Slope.
Kehlani responded by insisting she opposes genocide, not Jewish people, but acknowledged facing broader cancellation attempts since Cornell’s decision.
