Jackie Gallahan Blake, a lifelong Midlakes resident and small business owner, has launched her campaign for a seat on the Midlakes Board of Education.
Blake, a 2001 Midlakes High School graduate and mother of three current students in the district, made the announcement on April 29. She pledged to focus her campaign on fiscal responsibility and community engagement.
“If elected, I will bring that same mindset to our schools—prioritizing fiscal responsibility, ensuring every dollar is spent wisely, and always protecting taxpayers,” Blake said. “I will never vote to raise taxes and will work to keep our district on solid financial ground for the long term.”
Blake lives in the district with her husband, Jerry, and their children—Barrett, Cash, and Tate. She noted her involvement in local activities such as the Boy Scouts Dinner Dance and classroom volunteer work as part of her deep ties to the community.
“I’m here to listen, learn, and serve,” she said. “Supporting our schools and staying involved is important to me because strong communities start with strong connections.”
Blake’s campaign emphasizes three main goals: preserving the district’s financial health, enhancing educational opportunities, and strengthening transparency between the school board and district families.
“I believe that by working together, we can make a positive difference for every student and every taxpayer in our district,” she said.
The school board election will be held Tuesday, May 20, from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Midlakes Middle School Library.
