Ninety artists from across Western and Central New York will be featured in the 69th Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition at the Memorial Art Gallery, the museum announced Friday.
The biennial juried show, known as RFLX, is Rochester’s longest-running regional exhibition and will be on view from June 28 through October 5 in MAG’s Docent Gallery. This year’s juror is Timothy Peterson, the museum’s inaugural Ann and Irving Norry Curator of Contemporary Art.
“I am honored to serve as juror for the 69th RFLX exhibition,” Peterson said. “I greatly appreciate the opportunity, early in my tenure at MAG, to be introduced to the work of each applicant.”
The selected artists represent a range of disciplines and include Kristen Adkins (Brockport), Esmé Carroll (Rochester), Joshua Enck (Rochester), Dominique Mediak-Pirigyi (Buffalo), Jessie Marianacci Valone (Canandaigua), and Joe Ziolkowski (Ithaca), among many others. A complete list is available at mag.rochester.edu.
The exhibition provides an opportunity for artists to compete for several awards, including the $1,500 Memorial Art Gallery Award of Excellence and the $1,000 Alice E. Koret/Docent Award. Visitors will also have a chance to vote during the first two weeks to determine the $500 Harris Popular Vote Award.
According to MAG, the RFLX exhibition highlights “the diverse and creative talent of regional artists working across a wide array of media.” Select pieces have previously been acquired into the museum’s permanent collection, reflecting the show’s significance in the regional arts landscape.
