Driver Rescued After Crash With Garbage Truck in Cortlandville

A driver was trapped for over 30 minutes Wednesday morning after crashing into a garbage truck on Route 281 in Cortlandville, New York.

Emergency crews from multiple agencies responded and used hydraulic tools to remove the car’s roof and door, eventually freeing the driver by pushing up the dashboard. The driver was taken to Upstate Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
