A two-car crash in Hopewell sent one woman to the hospital with serious injuries Monday afternoon and caused temporary traffic disruptions at a busy intersection.
Deputies say Lynn M. McLaughlin, 63, of Canandaigua, was injured when her vehicle struck another car from behind at the intersection of State Route 5&20 and County Road 47 around 12:16 p.m. on April 14. The crash occurred as the other driver, 53-year-old Dawn M. Adams of Clifton Springs, was making a left turn.
Emergency responders arrived quickly. A sheriff’s deputy provided immediate medical aid to McLaughlin before paramedics from the Canandaigua Emergency Squad took over. Mercy Flight Central transported McLaughlin to Strong Memorial Hospital with a broken leg and internal injuries.
Adams sustained minor abrasions and was checked at the scene by EMS. The Hopewell Fire Department and New York State Police also assisted at the scene, and traffic was temporarily diverted while crews worked.
Investigators determined McLaughlin was following too closely, which caused the rear-end collision. She was issued a citation returnable to Hopewell Town Court.
