A weekend fire broke out on a cell block at Auburn Correctional Facility, triggering alarms and prompting a swift response, according to the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
Correction officers quickly contained the blaze using a standpipe, and inmates were evacuated safely into the yard. Despite initial reports of an “explosion,” no injuries were reported among staff or incarcerated individuals.
The facility remains secure, and all responding personnel continued their duties. An investigation into the cause of the fire is still underway.
