State testing resumes after tech failures halted exams

After two days of disruptions, New York’s computerized standardized tests are back online, according to the state Education Department. The system, operated by vendor NWEA, experienced repeated outages that left some schools unable to administer exams.

While officials have not disclosed the cause, NWEA claims it permanently resolved the issue after Wednesday’s recurrence. The glitch affected the rollout of English and math tests, part of the state’s push to shift 800,000 students to computer-based exams this year.

To make up for lost time, the state extended the testing deadline to May 23. Schools have flexibility to reschedule within that window, ensuring students complete required assessments.
