Police: Wayne Co. man indicted after tracking teen to Penn Yan, sexually assaulting her

A 27-year-old Wayne County man is in custody after a rape investigation in Yates County.

Elijah Q. Vreeland, 27, of Savannah was arrested by Penn Yan Police after he was indicted by a Yates County Grand Jury on two counts of rape.

It is alleged that on March 26, Vreeland drove from Wayne County to the Village of Penn Yan and sexually assaulted a 15-year-old female. The female victim revealed that Vreeland had tracked her location via a social media app. 

Once inside the residence, Vreeland sexually assaulted the female by force. He was arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office on the warrant and turned over to Penn Yan Police.

Vreeland is charged with one count of first-degree rape and one count third-degree rape, both felonies. He was arraigned in Yates County Court, where he was remanded to the Yates County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 secured bond or $75,000 partially secured bond.
