Geneva driver arrested for aggravated DWI after late-night stop

A driver was arrested for aggravated driving while intoxicated after police stopped a vehicle crossing the center line on Castle Street late Sunday night.

Jesus Octavio Miguel-Sanchez, 21, of Waterloo, was identified as the driver during the traffic stop conducted by the Geneva Police Department’s Road Patrol Division around 10:20 p.m. on May 18.


Police said they found an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle. After conducting an investigation, officers determined that Miguel-Sanchez was intoxicated. He was taken to the Geneva Police Department, where his blood alcohol content was measured at 0.21%, more than twice the legal limit.

Miguel-Sanchez was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated, both Class A misdemeanors. He also faces violations for having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and for failure to keep right.

He was processed and issued an appearance ticket to return to Geneva City Court.
