Some New Yorkers may face mail delays starting this month as the U.S. Postal Service begins rolling out cost-saving changes, according to USPS and Reuters.
Phase one of the overhaul started April 1, with delivery times shifting for select services. While most mail won’t be affected, some First-Class, Marketing Mail, Periodicals, and packages could arrive slower due to altered regional transport routes. A second phase launches July 1, with details still pending.
Additionally, USPS plans to trim its workforce by 10,000 through early retirements. Though rumors persist, privatization isn’t in motion and would require Congressional approval.
