Kristine Lytle is running unopposed in the upcoming special election for Cayuga County clerk, according to The Citizen. No Democratic candidate filed to run following Brian Scanlan’s sudden resignation earlier this month.
Lytle, endorsed by the Republican and Conservative parties, previously ran in 2023 and now stands as the only declared candidate. Her experience with the county DMV, which the clerk oversees, has been a key part of her campaign message.
Though Gov. Kathy Hochul could appoint a clerk ahead of the election, no move has been made. With no challengers, Lytle is expected to take office following the November vote.
