The City of Geneva has announced that spring cleanup efforts are underway at Glenwood and Washington Street Cemeteries, with crews set to remove unapproved decorations and debris starting April 9.
Officials advised visitors that any unclaimed wreaths, broken urns, artificial flowers, or other adornments not placed in approved containers will be disposed of as part of the seasonal maintenance work.
In an effort to maintain safety and preserve cemetery grounds, the city has reiterated several regulations. Visitors are reminded that planting trees and shrubs without permission is prohibited, and flowers should be placed in containers at the ends of monuments whenever possible. Additionally, glass containers, loose stones, wooden crosses, fences, trellises, shepherd hooks, and plant hangers are not allowed on the premises.
The city also emphasized that dogs are strictly prohibited from cemetery grounds, with notices posted at both entrances of Glenwood Cemetery and at Washington Street Cemetery.
