New York liquor store owners are alarmed over a potential 200% tariff on European wine, which could significantly raise prices and reduce selection.
Mark O’Callaghan, a board member of the New York State Liquor Store Association, says European wines make up 30% of his business. While the Trump administration argues tariffs will benefit domestic producers, he warns they may do more harm than good, affecting supply chains and increasing costs.
With New York being the largest U.S. consumer of European wine, store owners are lobbying for an exemption, fearing higher prices and fewer import options as early as next month.
