Burglary suspect arrested in Ithaca after stolen property recovered

A burglary suspect was arrested Sunday afternoon after Ithaca Police found stolen property in her apartment during an investigation.

Officers responded to an apartment complex on the 100 block of Cherry Street around 4:10 p.m. for a reported burglary. The victim told police that their apartment had been forcibly entered and personal property had been stolen.


While investigating the scene, officers identified and detained a suspect without incident. Authorities later recovered the stolen items from the suspect’s apartment in the same complex.

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Madelyn Carman of Ithaca, was charged with burglary in the second degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree. She was arraigned in Ithaca City Court before Judge Wallace and was released on her own recognizance.
