Five Star Bank has awarded a $10,000 grant to Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes to assist the Ovid community after a devastating fire in January. The blaze, caused by a smoking portable charger, destroyed multiple buildings and displaced over a dozen residents.
With immediate housing and financial needs addressed, attention is now shifting to the long-term impact of losing the village’s only grocery store. Catholic Charities says donations like this will help ensure access to affordable, healthy food.
Five Star Bank confirmed that all funds will directly support those affected.
