On Sunday, February 16, Knapp Winery will host a special event from 1 to 4 p.m. to support the recovery efforts for those impacted by the recent fire that devastated Ovid’s business district. Eighteen wineries from across Cayuga and Seneca Lakes will participate in the “Pour One Out for Ovid” fundraiser, which promises a day of wine tasting, live music, and community solidarity.
A $20 suggested donation at the door will grant attendees access to wine samples, locally-sourced light fare, and a performance by Ovid native Ed Iseley. Advance RSVPs are encouraged and can be sent to [email protected].
The event will also feature a wine pull, where attendees can purchase $15 tickets for a chance to select a “mystery bottle” of wine. All proceeds from ticket sales and the wine pull will be donated to the Ovid Fire Relief Fund.
The fund, established by the Ovid Federated Church in collaboration with the Village and Town of Ovid, is managed under the church’s 501(c)(3) status. Community Bank, NA is handling the funds, with a disbursement committee ensuring all donations go directly to those affected by the fire, with no overhead costs.
Event organizers are requesting cash donations but will accommodate credit card payments if necessary. Due to overwhelming community support, physical donations are not being accepted at this time.
Anyone interested in volunteering time or donating wine for the event can contact Knapp Winery at (607) 930-3495 or [email protected].
