Following the devastating Jan. 21 fire that destroyed Ovid’s only grocery store and several businesses, the Seneca County Board of Supervisors is exploring grant opportunities to support redevelopment efforts.
The county is applying for up to $100,000 through Empire State Development’s strategic planning program, which funds economic development projects, including mixed-use facilities. A required $50,000 local match is already budgeted for 2025.
With applications due by March 31, officials hope the funding will accelerate efforts to restore the village’s commercial core.
