ESPN, MLB to end national TV deal after 2025 season

ESPN will end its long-standing broadcast deal with Major League Baseball after the 2025 season, opting out of the final three years of its contract. The network has reduced its MLB coverage in recent years, prompting the league to seek new broadcasting partners.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred confirmed the split, stating the league will prioritize new deals over accepting a reduced rights fee from ESPN. ESPN remains open to a future partnership but is shifting focus to digital platforms.

With interest from streaming services like Apple and Roku, MLB aims to expand its national reach beyond traditional regional networks. The Home Run Derby, Wild Card games, and marquee matchups will likely move to new broadcast or streaming partners.
