Waterloo to hold public hearing on proposed tax cap override

  • Staff Report

The Village of Waterloo has scheduled a public hearing for March 10 at 7:00 p.m. to discuss a proposed local law that would allow the village to override New York State’s 2% property tax cap for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

The hearing will take place at the Village Clerk’s office, located at 41 W. Main St., where residents can review copies of the proposed law before the meeting.

If passed, Local Law #1 of 2025 would grant the village the authority to exceed the state-imposed tax cap, a measure that municipalities sometimes adopt to address budgetary constraints and ensure continued funding for essential services.
