The Village of Sodus Point Board of Trustees will hold a meeting on February 25 at 6:30 p.m., where officials are set to discuss a range of infrastructure projects and community matters, including short-term rental regulations, fire truck and compactor bids, and an independent accountant’s report.
The meeting will be held via Zoom, with the link to be provided on the day of the session. The agenda includes reports from Mayor McDowell and trustees, public comments, and updates on ongoing projects.
Among the key items under “Old Business,” the board will review wastewater generator service and inspection estimates, as well as the status of a water study and the related State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) process.
New business will cover multiple issues, including approval of the Independent Accountant’s Report from MMB, appointment of Planning Board members Steve Taylor and Ellen Farnum, and the discussion of bids for a 1992 fire truck and a compactor. Additionally, the board will consider quotes for a water tank mixer replacement, a waiver request for late fees from DLH-CO, and a structural evaluation of the village hall.
A significant topic of discussion will be the review and potential revisions of Chapter 151, which pertains to short-term rental regulations in the village. With the growing popularity of vacation rentals, municipalities across the region have been evaluating policies to balance tourism benefits with neighborhood concerns.
The board will also consider a home rule request regarding golf cart use within the village.
Financial matters will also be addressed, with the board expected to approve payment of claims and set dates for upcoming budget workshops. The meeting will conclude with an executive session to discuss potential litigation before adjourning.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for March 20 at 6:30 p.m.
