Cayuga Medical Center faced a cyberattack attempt Tuesday evening, forcing a temporary halt to emergency room admissions. The attack disrupted hospital systems, leading to a diversion order rerouting ambulances to other facilities from 8 p.m. to 10:45 p.m.
While no breach occurred, hospital staff resorted to manual check-ins, causing delays. By late Tuesday night, the hospital had entered recovery mode, with all systems expected to be restored soon.
Emergency admissions resumed, though stroke and heart attack patients were still diverted per state regulations.
