Syracuse woman arrested for burglary, larceny in Seneca County

  • Staff Report

A Syracuse woman has been arrested on burglary and larceny charges stemming from an incident at a Seneca County business last year.

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson reported that deputies arrested 30-year-old Rachelle A. Riggs on February 11 on an active warrant. Riggs was charged with burglary in the third degree and petit larceny.

The charges relate to an April 2024 incident at a business in the Town of Junius, where Riggs was allegedly seen concealing merchandise under her sweatshirt before leaving the store. At the time, she had already been issued a trespass notice prohibiting her from entering the business.

Following her arrest, Riggs was transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility, where she is being held pending arraignment.
