Three arrested in Victor Walmart theft, linked to multi-state larcenies

  • Staff Report

Three individuals were arrested Thursday in connection with a theft at the Victor Walmart, where they allegedly stole a customer’s wallet before attempting fraudulent purchases.

Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies took Karina Echegaray-Polo, 27, of Paterson, New Jersey; Josue Alberto Fernandez, 28, of Queens; and Jose Alberto Ortiz-Pariona, 33, of Paterson, New Jersey, into custody at Eastview Mall following the reported larceny.

Authorities say the trio worked together to steal the victim’s wallet from their purse before attempting to use the stolen credit and debit cards to make purchases at the mall. Deputies intercepted them in the parking lot, where they were detained.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects were involved in multiple organized larcenies across New Jersey and Pennsylvania, where they were fugitives from justice. They were charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and transported to the Ontario County Jail, where they remain in custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
