Suspect in CEO’s murder speaks from jail via defense website

Luigi Mangione, accused of ambushing and killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, made his first public comments from jail, thanking supporters via a website set up by his defense team. He remains in custody at a New York detention center, facing first-degree murder and terrorism charges.

Authorities allege Mangione used a ghost gun with a suppressor in the December 4 shooting. Evidence at the scene included shell casings with cryptic words. Prosecutors say his writings expressed grievances with the healthcare system, though he had no personal ties to UnitedHealthcare.

Mangione, arrested in Pennsylvania days after the murder, has pleaded not guilty. Officials have strongly condemned the attack, rejecting any claims that justify his actions.
