Paul Paradine, a longtime NYSEG employee, was recognized by Cornell University for his work in conserving ospreys around Cayuga Lake. He received the Debra S. Newman Award for leading a program that created nearly 200 safe nesting sites, helping the once-endangered birds thrive.
Paradine, who has lived in Ithaca for 16 years, also plays a crucial role in restoring electricity after storm damage. His efforts have benefited both the environment and local tourism, with initiatives like the Osprey Eco-Cruise attracting visitors.
Beyond NYSEG, Paradine actively volunteers with environmental and beautification projects. He expressed gratitude for the award, crediting strong community and corporate support for the conservation program’s success.
