CFCU Community Credit Union collecting donations for local animal shelters

CFCU Community Credit Union has launched a donation drive to support animal shelters across the region. From now through the end of February, all CFCU branches will serve as collection sites to benefit the SPCA of Tompkins County, the Cortland County SPCA, the CNY SPCA, the Finger Lakes SPCA of CNY, and the Dryden Dog Shelter.

Donations of blankets, laundry detergent, canned pet food, leashes, and toys are being accepted to help provide care and comfort for animals in need.

“At CFCU, we’re passionate about giving back to the communities we serve, and that includes the animals who bring so much joy to our lives,” said Lisa Whitaker, President and CEO of CFCU. “We’re honored to partner with these incredible organizations to support their efforts.”

Local animal shelters expressed gratitude for CFCU’s support. Jim Bouderau, Executive Director of the SPCA of Tompkins County, emphasized the impact of the community’s contributions. “The animals in our care rely on the community’s generosity. CFCU’s support helps ensure we can continue to provide the best care possible, and we are deeply thankful.”

Lynne Conway, Director of Development for the SPCA of Tompkins County, noted how critical donations are to shelter operations. “Donations like these help us meet the immediate needs of the animals and allow us to focus on finding them loving homes,” Conway said.

Retta Beardslee, Dog Control Officer for the Town of Dryden and representative of the Dryden Dog Shelter, echoed these sentiments. “Every donation helps us care for the dogs in our shelter and ensures they have what they need while they wait for their forever homes. We’re so grateful for this partnership and the difference it makes for local animals.”

For those interested in supporting the drive, items can be dropped off at any CFCU branch through February 29.
