  • Staff Report

Municipal clerks across Ontario County have certified the public offices that will be contested in the November 4, 2025, General Election. The list of certified offices, which includes over 100 county, city, and town positions, is now available on the Ontario County Board of Elections website.

Among the county-level offices, the roles of County Judge and District Attorney will be up for election. The City of Canandaigua will select a Mayor, four at-large city councilmembers, and a city judge. In neighboring Geneva, voters will elect a Mayor, four councilmembers, two city judges, and three county supervisors. Across the county’s 16 towns, key offices such as Supervisor, Clerk/Tax Collector, Highway Superintendent, and at least two town councilmember positions will also be decided. In addition, several townships will hold elections for local justices.

For residents interested in running for office, the candidate designation period for party-backed campaigns begins on February 25. Candidates pursuing a spot on an independent ballot line can begin circulating petitions on April 15. Detailed information about candidacy procedures can be found on the New York State Board of Elections website.

Voters considering changing their political party affiliation must act quickly, as party change requests received after February 14 will not take effect until July 1. Voters can update their party enrollment through the NYS Board of Elections Online Voter Registration portal or by submitting a voter registration form. Printable forms are available online and at post offices, government buildings, and libraries.

For further details on the upcoming elections or to review voter registration status, visit the Ontario County Board of Elections website. Inquiries can also be made by phone at (585) 396-4005 or via the Board’s online contact form.
