Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency has secured read-only access to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which oversees health coverage for over 140 million Americans.
According to CMS, two agency veterans are overseeing the collaboration to ensure proper access and adherence to federal standards.
Musk’s team is examining payment, contracting, and organizational systems to identify potential fraud or waste, part of a broader initiative under U.S. President Donald Trump.
CMS confirmed no personal health data has been accessed, while Musk claimed, without evidence, that significant fraud occurs within these systems.
