A defendant in two domestic violence cases has pleaded guilty to multiple charges just before his trial was set to begin on February 18.
Charles Williams, 48, of Auburn, entered a guilty plea to two counts of aggravated family offense, both Class E felonies, and one count of criminal contempt in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor. Williams is scheduled for sentencing on April 29, 2025, and faces an indeterminate prison term of three to six years.
The first investigation revealed that Williams used a crowbar to force entry into his ex-girlfriend’s house, damaging the doorframe. He was subsequently taken into custody and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail. During a separate investigation, authorities found that Williams had violated an order of protection by contacting the protected party from jail, further escalating the case.
The investigations were carried out by the Auburn Police Department and the Gun Involved Violence Elimination Task Force. Senior ADA Heather De Stefano prosecuted both cases, according to District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci.
