A federal prosecutor appointed by President Trump announced Monday that the FBI is investigating potential illegal resistance by career government officials to Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The initiative aims to shrink the federal workforce and cut billions in spending but has faced opposition from officials who say DOGE overreaches and targets programs misaligned with Trump’s “America First” agenda.
U.S. Attorney Edward Martin indicated public workers may have violated the law by obstructing DOGE operations. Musk thanked Martin after the announcement.
Tensions escalated when top USAID officials were removed for blocking DOGE access to secure areas.
