Executive order targets K-12 education at federal level

President Donald Trump issued an executive order aimed at ending “radical indoctrination” in K-12 schools, calling for a renewed focus on ‘patriotic education’. The order opposes teaching discriminatory equity or gender ideologies and strengthens parental rights under federal laws like FERPA and Title IX.

It directs federal agencies to evaluate funding streams that support such curricula and propose strategies to rescind funding where necessary.

The order also reinstates the 1776 Commission to promote an accurate, unifying history of the United States and support national events celebrating America’s 250th Independence anniversary in 2026.

Federal resources will prioritize civics and history education programs aligned with these goals.
