Trump bans gender identity policies in U.S. military

President Donald Trump issued an executive order barring gender identity policies in the military, revoking a 2021 directive that allowed transgender individuals to serve. The order mandates strict adherence to biological sex in facilities and pronoun use.

The Department of Defense has 60 days to update medical and enlistment standards to exclude individuals with gender dysphoria. The order also prohibits sharing sleeping, changing, or bathing spaces based on gender identity rather than biological sex.

Military branches must issue implementation plans within 30 days. The order is expected to face legal challenges from advocacy groups and Democratic officials.
