A 70-year-old man was hospitalized Tuesday evening after his SUV collided head-on with a New York State Department of Transportation plow truck on State Route 31, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said David Brandt was driving his vehicle when he crossed into oncoming traffic, striking the plow truck. He was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by ambulance for treatment. The driver of the plow truck was not injured.
Following an investigation, deputies determined that Brandt was intoxicated at the time of the crash, with a blood alcohol content of .18%. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI for having a BAC of .18% or higher, failure to keep right, and speed not reasonable and prudent.
Brandt was released and is scheduled to appear in Arcadia Town Court on February 26 at 3 p.m.
