Gov. Kathy Hochul assured New Yorkers on Tuesday that state-funded housing initiatives will proceed, despite the Trump administration’s attempt to pause trillions in federal grants and loans.
A federal judge temporarily blocked the directive, citing the need for further review due to its potential impact on key programs like Medicaid and free school lunches.
Hochul announced an additional $110 million for “pro-housing communities” to boost infrastructure and address the state’s housing shortage.
State leaders worry the pause could complicate budget talks. Hochul, however, remains committed to expanding affordable housing statewide.
