All remaining New York Big Lots store leases are up for sale as the company navigates bankruptcy. Gordon Brothers Retail Partners began listing over 460 locations nationwide, including 49 in New York, with offers due by Jan. 24. This signals likely closures, though some stores may transition to new ownership.
Big Lots filed for bankruptcy in September, initially planning to close all locations. However, a late-2024 deal transferred up to 400 stores to Variety Wholesalers, which may retain employees and continue operations under the Big Lots brand.
Despite the restructuring, the company has struggled with declining sales and mounting debt.
