Wayne County’s CAP court improves efficiency and safety

Wayne County’s Centralized Arraignment Part court, operating since 2019 at the county jail, has streamlined the judicial process while enhancing public safety. By conducting arraignments at fixed times, 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., the court eliminates the need to find judges during off-hours, improving logistical efficiency.

Sheriff Robert Milby noted that deputies now avoid long trips back to towns for arraignments, saving time and resources while keeping more officers on patrol.

Additionally, CAP allows for faster issuance of protective orders, bolstering community safety. Several counties across the Finger Lakes utilize the CAP system for arraignments.
